Please see map at bottom of this page to find out how to get to our rehearsals.
It's always good to have targets!
Watch this video clip to see where
we might be in a few months' time!
No-one can have missed the vibrancy of the atmosphere in Rio over the summer of 2016,
especially in the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics.
Don’t be shy!
Now is your chance to be a part of bringing some musical fun and excitement
to brighten up the streets of South East Cornwall!
After looking for someone to lead a new Samba Drumming group
we have come up trumps and found a willing volunteer
who not only has the energy and enthusiasm - but the experience as well.
No stopping you!
No matter how old you are and
no matter what experience you have
there is nothing to stand in your way!
Come along on your own or bring some friends or family.
All will be made very welcome.
The first meeting was held on 1st September in Callington Town Hall
so you'll soon catch up if you have no experience.
For the foreseeable future we have settled on alternate Thursday evenings
as a time for rehearsals.
Rehearsal times for the beginning of 2017 are:-
January 5th and 19th
February 2nd and 16th
March 2nd, 16th and 30th
April 13th and 27th
The way ahead?
Sean Hooper, who initially ran the group for MayFest,
was really impressed with the Callington ensemble and
would love the group to be involved in the Truro City of Lights parade.
Tom, our new leader, is confident that we will soon be able to "go public".
There are obviously plenty of occasions throughout the year
when a Samba Band would be the ideal group to create some fun and noise in our area:
MayFest, Carnival, Honey Fair, the Callington Christmas lights switch-on and
a host of local fetes and shows.
Did you see us in Callington at the Victorian Christmas Market? People thought we were great - and we've already been booked for 2017!
As the band gets established there will be plenty of scope for other people,
for example with experience of costume design, to get involved.
Dance fits in well alongside Samba, so anyone interested in being part of
a samba dance troupe or a new majorette group would also be warmly received.
If you want to come along and give it a try,
want to sit and watch what happens or
want to chat to someone about it,
then do come and join us.
Interested? Come along to a rehearsal or get in touch via the "Contact Us" tab at the top of the page.
We look forward to seeing you!
